This Year's Model Updates:

The value-priced Work Truck package is now available on both regular and extended cabs. Base models pick up cruise control, a sound system, chrome rear bumper and chrome wheels. An automatic transmission is now standard on LS models, and the V6 is no longer an option in this trim. Other updates include new polished aluminum wheels and 265/70R16 tires with either black sidewalls or raised white lettering. The Quadrasteer option no longer requires the buyer to order trailering equipment. There's also a new tonneau cover, and inside, you'll find underseat storage. Finally, Chevrolet has deleted the Silverado's passenger-side outside door lock.

Pros:
  • Roomy extended-cab models, strong V8 engines, innovative features.
Cons:
  • Cheap interior materials, questionable build quality.

  • Good ol Plain Jane Crew Cab - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Bought this truck because they FINALLY made the 1500 Crew Cab. I think we did it right. Fit, finish, performance is very good. ( Cmon people, its a truck! Anything better than 16-18 mpg, and drag strip performance, youll have to build yourself! ) I have put on dual exhaust, and an air intake system, and increased mileage, but its good enough to start with! The only thing I would change is getting the long-bed. Also, after-market/dealer-installed tonneau cover is a joke! But overall, a very good, competent truck. LT pkg. makes it even better than some cars.

I have always owned 4 wheel drive trucks, never have I driven one with more traction than the All Wheel Drive SS. I tow a large trailer, many times on glare ice, and feel confident and safe!

All in all it is a good truck. Have trouble with speedometer and tach gauges. Company does not stand behind product and will not fix. Also trouble with front 4x4, having trouble fixing, speakers dont work then they work

This is my second Chevy truck and I absolutely love it. I only traded in the first because it was a lease. Came home with another Silverado and am extremely happy once more. I have fun driving a truck and I feel safe at the same time. Cant see myself owning anything but a Chevy truck. :)

Just bought new 2004 LT Z-71 ext cab, 327 v8 (vortec 5300), love the leather heated seats, xm radio, onstar, Bose sound system. love the ride-very smoothe for a 4wd. love the power/sound/performance of the 327. ride puts ford 4wd and dodge to shame. ext cab is very roomy for an ext cab. this is my 4th silverado, 2nd z-71, all have been excellent. only minor problems on every chevy truck Ive owned, the doors eventually start to flex making a slight rattle noise. adjustments of the doors or just re- lubing the hinges will stop this. definitely reccomend 2wd or 4wd. opt for the 5300 327ci v8 over the 4800.

I actually bought the 2004 Silverado Z71 short bed with a 5.3 liter 8 cylinder engine, which was not listed. This is my first 4x4 Ive owned but driven and ridden in many others. The Silverado Z71 is by far the best handling and funest to drive truck Ive been in. It might not have the best interior features, but who buys a TRUCK for luxury. This truck serves its purpose and is probably the most dependable in its class. Ive drove the truck through some stuff that Ive seen other new trucks get stuck in; but of course, that was a combination of good driving with the aid of a fine machine, the Silverado Z71.

XM Radio with Bose speaker package is very nice. When switching between FM and XM you wonder how you ever lived without it. No annoying FM morning DJs and no annoying commercials. Tinting rearview mirror is great. 4x4 provides great traction. Snow, mud, uphill. Bravo for someone finally putting a rear defroster on a truck. Best Fog Lights ever! Provides great lighting to the sides of the truck allowing you to see the sides of the road for any dangers (pedestrians, deer, etc). Also greatly increases the brightness in front of you without blinding oncoming traffic.

Can not say enough about this truck. Averaged 20 mpg for mix driving and 24 hwy. Disappointed that I had to trade it in for my 2006 GTO.
